In the early Summer of 2013 my little sister called with astounding news: My niece was on her way into the world....
She caused me to see more deeply into the importance of approaching this project in ever more caring ways.

The Seasons' Reason
 My niece & inspiration since I heard she was on her way in June of 2013
Making art with friends creates a place to spend quality time and connect with the people we care about, in ways that bring more play into our lives.
As with life imperfections make art better in many ways, and in good company the errors in art add an element of surprise and Acceptance to our lives: Making a place where criticism isn't necessary allows for better connection. My hope was to bring community together like a big family, to join in Seasonal festivities with an ever-expanding body of friends and communities at family-friendly events like the Tacoma Santa Parade (link), making a context to get to know and connect with others better in fun ways. I am happy to say we've done well enough so far. |

Quality time was an important part of my upbringing that is responsible for some of my own favorite memories.

Growing up, my little sister was the artist in our family: Her sensitive nature and ways of parenting are for me a real inspiring force that have been part of this project as I've done my best as an uncle to include in this work a higher quality of care.

2014 I hosted a series of events from Spring to Fall that epitomized my intentions for Stars 4 Peace

 2014 I askedTR Stewart of the Victory Music Community if he would play my first in this event series, bringing music together with learning through the community that inspired me
The Victory Music community was and continues to be a foundational personal inspiration: Their ways of life from the early days of the 60's bring something wholesome to our lives I find invaluable.
I started with a food-based event where professionals spoke on the topics of the then-worsening bee crisis, on the need for organic food and other topics at the Free Range Kitchen, a cooperative on 6th Ave. Of course there was art - & music. We ended this Series with an event honoring the work of world-renowned ecotoxicologist Dr. John Stark, whose work has changed how the world sees Life Cycles in view of birth rates altered when toxins are put in the environment. His work is responsible for changes in legislation at the WA State & U.N. |

I asked TR Stewart of the Victory Music community to play, hoping to infuse in this approach a musical essence from the source of my own early inspiration of Northwest life.
Through this community I was introduced to the ways of life I would never have known existed, and which continue to be meaningful for me in ways I find worthy and valuable. These values I hope to foster in my work. Art from local artists hung on the walls, w/ a home made organic potluck. |
What You Intend, You Must Begin...
2015 changed my life completely.
First, that Summer I met Adrienne of Tacoma's H.O.P.E. Victims Advocacy Foundation. Her story and dedication to helping survivors of Domestic Violence for 20+ years, has been an exceptional force for good in my life.
Later in 2015 I had an experience that has provided for me one of life's thoroughgoing lessons in what help Trauma survivors really require to heal, how things as simple as connection, as basic as perception and as elemental as fundamental communication can be radically changed in people in ways that require true transformational work and patience over time.
H.O.P.E. stands for "Helping Overcome Personal Emptiness," which you understand if you have been through the realities connected with any of the "Capital T" Traumas.
Stars 4 Peace has been forever changed due to the influence Adrienne's work has had on me, and we continue today promoting solutions for people in need, in the ongoing hope of gaining for many in need the necessary services and help that's required to overcome their personal challenges, to rise above their life's enduring troubles and to help them connect with greater community as is needed for them to have a happy and joyful life.

I'll Have to Introduce Them Another Time...
11-11-17 We hosted Tiana Alexandra-Silliphant during her 2017 Peace Tour. We held the event to benefit a local organization that helped veterans train their personal service dogs. It was a visionary non-profit founded by a Marine War Time veteran who trained his own service dog for PTSD.
